The Living Songbook is an award-winning creative partnership between Canadian composer-pianist James Hurley and Irish tenor Dean Power.
Rooted in the belief that poetry and music together can carry human experience across the distances that geography, language, and politics create between people, The Living Songbook brings the art song tradition into the present tense.
With their exciting and emotional performances, the duo has captured the attention of the leading writers of today, leading to fruitful and exciting collaborations resulting in powerful new works.
Different groups of songs have evolved, including The Great Irish Poets Songbook, as well as the 2026 NATS Art Song Competition winning song cycle of Michael Crummey's Poetry.
